Prime Plaza Donates to Yayasan Aisyah

Prime Plaza Hotels & Resorts give donation to children of Yayasan Aisyah in Kalibaru, Cilincing, North Jakarta on Sunday, April 20, 2008 when the foundation throws a traditional costumes parade for children of Kalibaru to celebrate Kartini's Day.

Beside giving donation which is received by Mrs. Hadijah Karim as the head of the foundation, Prime Plaza Hotels & Resorts - represented by Denny Wiryadhana (Director of Sales & Marketing), Felicia Setiawan (Public Relations Manger), and Sekar Widianingrum (Sales Executive) - also provide goodie bags contained of snacks and soft drinks for the children participating in the parade which is joined by children of preschool and kindergarten of Yayasan Aisyah.

Starting from Yayasan Aisyah office - which is also used as a school for preschool and kindergarten children, as well as a house where some of the committees of the foundation live - the children accompanied by their teachers took a little parade through the narrow alleys in Kalibaru wearing their traditional costumes.

After the parade, the children were back at their starting point of Yayasan Aisyah office which has been decorated by the teachers and some volunteers from the surrounding society. The parade was followed by children fashion show performing their traditional clothes and being judged by some teachers who act as the judges during the little show.

"Even though it is very very simple, we would like to give the kids the activities to celebrate Kartini's Day as what other children do at other bigger schools," explains Mrs. Hadijah.

Yayasan Aisyah was established in 1996. At the early days the foundation was established as a result of concern to help educate the surrounding society of Kalibaru. Today, with the hard work and strong will of the officials of the foundation, as well as the help coming from many institues and individuals, Yayasa Aisyah could hold broader activities beside preschool and kindergarten. They have other social activities of Taman Pendidikan Al Quran (TPA), and this year they have started a new program of Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Masyarakat (PKBM) to help educate the school drop-outs within their area as well as to help some people in their neighborhood how to read, which is still a social problem in this poor urban society.
